The Compas started the promotional build up for Ryan Garcia versus Devin Haney after Gilberto and Fernando recorded the scuffle between the two boxing stars in Las Vegas back in February during Super Bowl radio row.

That YouTube video got more than 1.6 million views. Shoutout to Garcia and Haney for the extra subscribers on the Compas on the Beat channel! But now it’s time for the real fight. No more shoving matches—a second one occurred at the Empire State Building this week.

Before the Compas arrive in New York—That’s right, Compas on the East Coast—they provide predictions for the junior welterweight showdown. As of Wednesday, Haney is a whopping -900 favorite and Garcia a +550 underdog. Two of the four Compas are rocking with the underdog from Victorville, California.

Haney-Garcia predictions

Gilberto Manzano

Devin Haney by unanimous decision

Haney’s skills as a technician are comparable to Terence Crawford, which is obviously high praise for the former lightweight undisputed champion. But Haney doesn’t get the same credit as Crawford when it comes to pound-for-pound rankings because of his lack of power and suspect chin. For those reasons, Ryan Garcia and his dangerous left hook will make this fight compelling before Haney picks him apart in the second half of this junior welterweight showdown.

Fernando Ramirez

Devin Haney by unanimous decision

It’s hard to trust Ryan Garcia after his antics, whether at the press conference or Super Bowl Radio Row. I’m interested to see how he bounces back from getting knocked out by Tank Davis a year ago. I just don’t see him winning, plus I think Haney will go Floyd Mayweather and go for the points.

Dan in Daygo

Ryan Garcia via TKO

First off, Garcia is a friend of the show. He has been on twice, plus he is distracting everyone with all of the antics. He wants everyone believing he isn’t all in, but the man’s back is against the wall. If he loses then it might be over as a “serious contender.” Give me Ryan, two-time guest of Compas on the Beat.

Victor Corona

Ryan Garcia by split decision

People are fixated on the social media antics from Ryan Garcia and overlooking what he can do in the ring to beat Devin Haney. Let’s start with the fact that there’s no rehydration weight clause in this fight for Garcia, which was one of the factors for his loss to Gervonta Davis.

An underrated move by Garcia was hiring Derrick James to be his trainer. Having a trainer that can help Garcia stay focused in the ring as well as prepare him with a game plan to attack Haney’s methodical boxing style will be huge. Lastly, Garcia’s punching power will be an x-factor versus Haney’s excellent defense. It’s hard to have any faith in Haney because of his lack of punching power to hurt Garcia.
