Introducing Compas on the Beat

Welcome to the Compas on the Beat blog!

Here, Gilberto, Fernando, Dan in Daygo, and Vic, the Producer, are your guides to the latest news and analysis from the sports world. But our conversations don't stop with our YouTube channel and podcast – we've got plenty more to share and discuss right here.

Compas on the Beat is rapidly becoming a go-to media network for sports and culture enthusiasts. Founded in 2021 by Gilberto Manzano and Fernando Ramirez during their time covering the Los Angeles Chargers, Compas on the Beat reflects their shared passion and perspective as two of the few Mexican-American sports reporters covering the NFL for English media outlets.

What began as a podcast to keep Chargers and NFL fans in the loop has evolved into something greater. Compas on the Beat is carving out its place in the media landscape, providing fresh and insightful content from a cultural viewpoint.

So stick around and join us as we navigate the exciting world of sports and beyond.

Compas on the Beat reaches new heights

The Compas reached new heights last season and we’re now destroying all the competition in Season 4. Don’t believe us? Go check out our video of boxers Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney going at it in Las Vegas. That video is at 1.4 million views as of this post and will probably crack two million soon! Quick promo: Make sure to check out our interviews with Ryan Garcia, Rolly Romero, Rampage Jackson, The Cake Boss and so many other high-profile guests on our YouTube channel. Everyone wants to talk to the Compas! Last month showed us we're on the right path. It's not easy building a media network with four Compas, but the support we have received from our listeners and viewers makes this all worth it and the results have been tremendous.

Why we started Compas on the Beat

Journalism is evolving rapidly, leaving many traditional media outlets struggling to keep up. Meanwhile, shows and companies like First Take, The Pat McAfee Show, and Barstool Sports are thriving. While they may prioritize attention-grabbing content over traditional journalism, Gilberto and Fernando, along with Dan and Victor, have somehow found the perfect recipe for serving up unique content without turning our studio into a shouting match arena... most of the time. Yeah, we'll admit it, Gilberto and Dan's occasional heated debates do add a little spice every now and then!

The blueprint for building a successful media company is out there, but not many prioritize diversity and cultural representation. That's where the Compas come in. We're committed to representing diverse perspectives and fostering a sense of community within the media landscape. Over the past three years, we've built a strong community and continue to champion inclusivity and representation in our work.

You can support the network by subscribing to our newsletter, reading our stories, and watching and listening to our content. Don't forget to like and comment. Be a Compa, tell a Compa about Compas on the Beat!
